Q. How to Take Sea Minerals?

A. For most of us, sea minerals taste awful and there are many ways of getting them down without gagging. Otherwise, put 5ml of sea minerals in about 3cm of water, meanwhile get a glass of water/juice/milk ready. Shoot down the sea minerals and then follow immediately with your drink. There is no aftertaste and this is a much easier way of taking them than trying to force down a big glass of something that tastes yuk! Or take them in drop form throughout the day. Q. When is the best time to take Sea Minerals?

A. We recommend that Sea Minerals be taken with the evening meal, or at least on a full stomach before bed. The reason for this is that while your body is at rest it is busy repairing cells and strengthening your immune system. It draws on the nutrients you have provided from your food. Taking Sea Minerals at night means that your body has a ready source to draw on for repair Return to Top

Q. Why do I have to take Sea Minerals on a full stomach?

A. Sea Minerals are very high in Magnesium. Magnesium relaxes intestinal muscles and also helps draw water into the intestine.  People who are sensitive to Magnesium will often get a diarrhea response, this response can be lessened or cancelled by ensuring that there is food in the stomach at the time of ingestion. The suggested 5ml can be halved or quartered until the body adapts. Return to Top

Q. You manufacture Mineral Drops, should these also be taken at night?

A. The short answer is No! Mineral drops were designed to be taken throughout the day and at times of high physical activity. As they are added to water you can manage how much you put in. It is a taste thing, you will certainly know if you have added too much! I usually add 3-5 drops per glass of water or 6-10 to a 600ml bottle of water. Sea Minerals are electrolytes and help rehydrate during and/or after sport, the gym etcetera. You can also use it to make your own mineral water if you have access to a soda machine. Remember that Sea Minerals are heavier than water, so if you are going to let your mineralised water sit, give it a gentle shake or stir before drinking. Return to Top

Q. Can I use Daily Boost to remineralise heavily filtered water or water that has been through reverse osmosis?

A. Yes, please do! Again the taste test is the best way to measure how much to add. Return to Top

Q. Can children take Daily Boost?

A. Yes, definitely! In fact, anecdotally it is said that the minerals help to improve concentration. Of course without official studies there is no measurable proof of this. Return to Top

Q. What is the difference between all the varieties of Sea Minerals you manufacture?

A. Daily Boost is the base product and is just pure Sea Minerals. From there we add herbs to make the other varieties. Sort of like herbal tea, the herbs are infused in the Sea Minerals and left for a specific amount of time to steep and draw the properties of the herbs into the mix. We have Ultra Boost with herbs for immune support, Hawthorn for circulation support, Nettle for blood and hormonal support and Gumbi Gumbi also for immune support. (*see disclaimer) Return to Top

Q. What type of Magnesium is in the Sea Minerals?

A. The short answer is Magnesium is just magnesium in ionic not atomic form.  It can also be thought of as Magnesium Chloride in its dissolved form. This is why if you put Sea Minerals in a cold environment clear crystals will form in the bottle, Magnesium Ions bind with Chloride Ions when subjected to cold, to become Magnesium Chloride Crystals. However while they are dissolved they are separate ions.. "Magnesium ions (Mg2+) are the most abundant divalent metal ions within cells. They bind to a number of proteins and nucleic acids, regulating a wide range of biological processes such as ATP utilization, enzyme activation, and maintenance of genomic stability ()."

Further info if you are science minded : This means that while the Magnesium Ions are dissolved in SeaMinerals its chemical compound would be Mg2+, which means literally that it is a Magnesium Atom which has lost 2 electrons and so becomes an ion.  If the Magnesium was to fall out of suspension and solidify it would be in the form of Magnesium Chloride crystals, MgCl2. This is easily absorbed by the body. Other forms of Magnesium can be made from Sea Water by adding alkalai compounds (such as calcium hydroxide) including Magnesium Hydroxide, Magnesium Oxide Return to Top

Q. What about pollution and Sea Water?

A. Our Sea Minerals are sourced from the Oldest Family Owned Sea Salt Maker in Australia. Two sites, with minimal rainfall suitable for solar evaporation are positioned at pristine locations one in Queensland near the Great Barrier Reef and the Other In South Australia near the Great Australian Bight which is fed from the Southern Ocean. These are areas of little population and industry allowing the ocean to remain clean and pure. Amena's Sea Minerals also donates $1 per bottle of Sea Minerals sold to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation whose remit is to keep the reef healthy for all the marine life that lives there. We also give monthly to the Australian Marine Conservation Fund, we believe that if we take from a resource it is only right and proper to give back. Return to Top
